Ahoy all!!
This is just a quick post to share the process art for a recent piece!
There is a group/page on Facebook that I have been a big fan of for a long time. It is called "Character Design Challenge." The idea is that they post a theme and a short story for a monthly character design prompt and they offer the page up for artists to post their solutions to the challenge.
It is a great exercise and it is awesome to see what you can create when you are within the limitations of strictly the character design.
For the month December, 2015 the prompt was to design a character according to this short story from their Facebook page for the event:
"
The Shaolin Monk
''The temple bells toll as the monks kneel in the pillared inner sanctum and bow before the great altar of the Golden Buddha, before which sits the Abbot of Shaolin.
This year he will reveal to his students the secrets of the ''Bak Mei 白眉 Kung Fu'', a lethal martial art style.
Only 4 novices will handle the rigors of training this fighting style, and to them will be revealed how to use the mysterious Genk Jak Ging, known as the ''sacred power'', an explosive and ferocious martial art technique.''
We invite all artists to unleash their creativity and design their unique vision of a monk of the Shaolin Temple. Your character can be any of the Shaolin monks who will attend this event. It can be Male of Female and can also be the Abbot of Shaolin himself.
"
What an awesome prompt!!!
Click below and lets jump into the process art for the Shaolin Werewolf!!!
Well, I did some research and during the digging process I found an article about a recent legendary figure called the Shaolin Werewolf. It was so interesting that I decided to make my piece based off of the idea of this person.
Here is the art for the contest from the initial sketches on my Note 4 phone and in my sketchbook all the way through the final sheet's roughs and colors!
I hope you enjoy and I will update this post to let you know if I place or am mentioned in the event!
Best be to yee', me mateys!
May the winds be at your backs and friends be at your sides. Blessed be your journeys.
